Cambridgeshire ZZ/Helice 2024

Rugby and District Trap Club, 13th April 2024

On Sunday the 13th April we held the county Helice at Rugby – sharing the fixture with both the East Midlands championship and Lincolnshire’s, so a reasonable entry was always on the cards. The day was a nice sunny day with a few clouds about at times making some of the targets hard to see, but the dividing factor was the wind blowing from behind to make the targets very fast going away from you. An enjoyable day, if not a bit tricky for most.

Kevin Flitton took the Cambridgeshire and East Midlands titles with 18ex24

Jane Bell took the Ladies’ and Veterans’ titles in Cambridgeshire and the EM Ladies’ title with 13

Andrew Oakey was just one target behind to take Cambridgeshire Men’s and EM Vets’ titles on 12

Our thanks go to the staff from Rugby and D Jenkins for the running of the event and providing the trappers. Full results on the CPSA website here

Kevin Flitton took the Men’s County title and Tim Jones the Veterans’ on countback from Andrew Oakey Congratulations to all who took part on a day of difficult shooting conditions.

Cambridgeshire ZZ Helice Champs

Hi all,

Well we went to Rugby for the intercounties, Cambridgeshire, and East Midlands Helice, a good entry but only 4 teams were entered,

The day started a little cool at first, but soon brightened up and we had a hot and sunny day. There was a slight wind but in the right direction for shooting Helice.

The team were all a little bit rusty and all made the odd mistake and lost targets, but it was enjoyable.

The big surprise came from Chris Hall – he wanted to come and try this new sport of Helice that he’d never seen or shot before… and shot an almost perfect score 23/24 and in so doing took the Cambridgeshire championship. A new convert to the discipline, me thinks?

Our thanks go to the team from Rugby for setting it all up and looking after us all day.

Cambridgeshire ZZ Championship 2017

Report from Tim Jones:

Well that’s all the Cambs shoots done for another year and the time seems to have gone so quickly we have had lots of good shooting from all the people who have been involved in the counties shoots. The last one as always was the ZZ Helice, held at Rugby Sun 26th November.  A cold day with a light breeze from the rear which just could make a difference to the targets if you left them a bit late.  But a strong turnout from Cambs, taking the first 3 placings.  Sat at the top for the day was K Flitton taking top spot again by one target from T Jones to take the vets and M Conway just 2 targets behind and takes the Ladies.  With thanks to John and his team for a good day always a pleasure to go.
