This was another wintery affair with Saturday being very cold and windy and Sunday very cold windy, and with some rain thrown in for good measure. It would be nice to get it right for once but In the British Isles never. But as a spectator over both days it was very exciting to watch and the weather didn’t stop Taylor Hedgecock from showing his class and doing what he does best at busting clays and that’s what he did. He shot a 94 and that was super in the conditions with very testing targets. So Taylor wins another Cambridgeshire Championship and also the Juniors.
The Vets was a very close thing with Tony Leonard and Michael Fryer both shooting 89 followed very closely by Brian Dunbavin, Alan Stronge, Peter Simpson and Gordon Webster all covered by 4 clays. As the top two had gone we used the count back system so it was Tony who is our county Vets Champ.
The Ladies was also close with Holly Dugan posting a 76 on Sat and in that wind that was a very good score indeed, but on the last squad on Sunday Ami Hedgecock came in with a 77 so took the Ladies and Colts, not for the first time I might add. Just to inform, that the Sportrap trophy turned up this year after a ten year absence, and it was one I donated many years ago, so all that history has been returned to us.
Super shooting folks and thanks to CGC for your hospitality.
