Another day another Championship... Here we go again with the Cambridgeshire ABT Championship held at Cambridge Gun Club over 2 days.
This is, I think, one of the most testing of disciplines - shown by the fact that only 3 entrants were in B class, with everybody else in lower classes. A is the - in our case empty - top class but I think most enjoyed the experience (Note from the webmaster: an average of 89.8 will get you in A class, so several of today's shooters might find themselves in A class soon!).
The field was made up of 12 Seniors, 7 Vets, 2 Colts, 2 juniors and 3 ladies - 4 including Georgia who is also a colt. 26 in all. It was a very cold day and one needed to be wrapped up on Sunday, I certainly was (whereas I shot in shirtsleeves on Saturday - Webmaster).
At the end of the day the scores were very close. Philip Barnard posted a 93 and we waited until the last squad for John Russo to do the same, meaning we were treated to a most enjoyable shoot off.
John did enough to take the title for the first time Philip having won the title before (also with a shoot-off).

So the Champion is John Russo with 93
Ladies' Champion Hazel Whiten with 80
Juniors' Champion Josh Pearson 82 from last year's champion Max Hayneswith 79
Colts' Champion Georgia Moule 78 just by one target from Taylor Hedgecock (again - there was one target between these two at the FITASC last week as well)
Vets' Champion Gordon Tate with 89
