Cambridgeshire Olympic Skeet Championship Tythe Farm on Saturday 28th June 2014

Phil Smith & Freddie Killander

The Cambridgeshire Olympic Skeet was held at Tythe Farm on Saturday 28th June.  As a discipline, OSK has never been easy, and changes over recent years to increase the speed of targets and number of doubles shot at have only added to the challenge.  Nevertheless six Cambridgeshire shooters braved the targets and the weather – the rain was so hard at one point that non-shooting squad members were all under umbrellas and the referee was indicating hit/miss to by semaphore to the scorer sheltering in the barn.  One the shooters had assembled though, the real fight was for second place, as the County Champion title went to Cambridgeshire’s representative in the Team GB OSK squad, Freddie Killander, who dominated not only with an 89 but a final round of 25ex25.  Phil Smith and Graham Carter tied on 64 in second place, with Phil taking the Vets’ title.

Thanks to Tythe Farm for hosting once again, and even providing a BBQ ! [many thanks to David Christensen for the report]
