Held at Nottingham GC, June 26th 2011: Report from the County Vice Chair
Sunday the 26th June was the East Midlands Double rise Championship, this
was also used as County Championships for some of the counties including
Cambridgeshire.
Six of Cambs most hardy travelled the distance to Nottingham Gun Club. The
day was very hot as it was for most of us wherever we went. The targets were
very good and were shot over 2 layouts, meaning that the shoot was
finished very quickly indeed. Shooting 50 targets in one go would indeed leave a lot
of people shell shocked, as indeed it did your reporter.
The total entry was 45. The Cambs shooters equipped themselves very well
indeed: our Chairman Chris Morris shot off for High Gun with Marvin
Houghton - both having shot 92 - alas Chris didn't make the final hurdle and was
runner-up overall.
At the 50 bird stage Phil Barnard was on 46 and Tim Jones on 45, and at the
end Phil had 89 and Tim had 88. It
looked like being a very close thing until Chris arrived on his Harley
Davidson and shot 45 and then followed it with a super 47.
So Chris is the County Champion with 92.
The Vets went to the ever tenacious Tony Randall with 77
Well shot to both of you.
