Cambridgeshire CPSA
County Committee
Secretary: David Christensen Treasurer: Bob Pitt
Committee: Paul
Ashley, Malcolm Collins, Angie Grant,
Committee Meeting on 13th May 2008
At the Vet School, 7.30pm Start
Once Paul Ashley had arrived all committee members were present and there were hence no apologies for absence
The committee ask David to thank Sarah for her email. Long standing members of the committee raised concerns that trophies had been proposed in the past that were of an inappropriate quality or nature and that as such commissioning of less conventional trophies was a risk. However the committee wholeheartedly agreed that we should fill the gaps in our current trophy list. It was agreed to review budget and gaps during year, with possible view to buying new trophies and presenting them to this year’s champions at the AGM. Priority will be to those where the highest number of competitors didn’t have a trophy to shoot for, but until the result of the competition sponsorship initiative is known we won’t know what budget is available.
Cash in hand at £323. Quarterly forecast produced which shows association breaking even and with healthy cash flow.
Malcolm has spoken to Albie Fox, a potential new supplier
of teamwear and badges who amongst other things supply Team GB. Subject to receiving samples of a
satisfactory standard, we wish to proceed with this supplier. They will take orders directly from team
members, checking their names via an eligibility list which the county
webmaster will maintain on the website.
Teamwear will consist of any of their catalogue items which can be
supplied in a good match with the county colours (a consistent navy blue across
the range). Anyone who has shot for
Cambridgeshire at any time in the past may purchase the teamwear, and anyone
qualifying for a team match may pre-order but may not wear the team wear until
they turn up to their first team match.
The supplier will redo the badge artwork for free and can price the
badges at £3.25 with 2 weeks lead time or £3.10 with 4.
Malcolm will check quality of samples and negotiate
prices. Also ask Albie Fox for business
cards that we can give to qualifiers as this will be the most effective way at
directing them to the site (although we will obviously have links from the
county website). At this stage the county is not expecting to make any
commission on the clothing, but Malcolm will mention to Albie Fox that should
sales be good we might like some for of commission next year, whether in terms
of commission on clothing sales or maybe a deal on badge prices.
Should we go with Albie Fox the committee will contact Rose Palmer to inform
her of the reasons for the change (direct ordering, credit card processing,
artwork rework, no minimum orders etc) and thank her for her work in previous
years.
Michelle asked for feedback on team managers actions list. Added to this list is the requirement that Team Managers to communicate estimated badge requirements to Malcolm at least a month in advance of their team matches.
Malcolm Collins (Camtech Photographic) has kindly agreed to sponsor the ESK and ESP championships and passed over a cheque for £100 to the treasurer. Mike Williams has asked to sponsor the DTL at the standard £50 rate – David to provide him with an invoice and collect payment on the day.
Fri 8th of august, provisionally at Country
Pursuits.
PM raised issue of shooters not turning up to shoot at
county championships but not wishing to be considered for the team; the
committee agreed that whilst this was unfortunate, shooters who qualify cannot be obliged to represent the county.
It is unfortunate that not all shooters regard representing the county as the
same honour that most do, but it is a fact of life.
SG : raised the issue of unclaimed keepsakes and spare

Email received, 6th May:
Hello
all,
Seeing
as there was no Ladies' Trophy for the Double Rise last weekend I wondered if
the committee might consider getting one for this, and other events, where
there is currently no trophy. The shields have a lot to recommend them, but I
thought of an alternative. I wondered if maybe new trophies could be
commissioned from the large pool of skilled people involved with shooting. The
ZZ trophies are a wonderful example of the sort of thing I had in mind.
Trophies hand carved or something more quirky made from decommissioned pieces
of shotgun would be a fabulous prize to win.
