Cambs Olympic Trap 3rd April 2016 Nuthampstead

Sunday the 3rd April was a day we were eagerly awaiting being the first County Championship of 2016. This was the Cambridgeshire Olympic trap which is run over 100 Olympic targets. The name itself is a clue that is was not going to be a pushover for any but a few shooters from Cambridgeshire. The shoot was a County championship for both Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, but as it happened it seemed that every man and his dog made their way to Nuthampstead on the 3rd April. Due to there being a selection shoot the following week, the ground finished up with 12 squads with many shooters coming from all parts of the UK and further. Some shooters were still shooting at 6pm - a long day bearing in mind some shooters had been on the ground for 12 hours. Having said that we went for the shooting and we were not disappointed!

OT Champions

OT Winners 2016

L>R James Sole, Anita North and Nick Evans

Cambridgeshire fielded 7 shooters and Hertfordshire 9 the remainder were from all over the world. The shooting was top class and the prediction on Facebook turned out a good one with James Sole shooting a super 96 to take the County Title, not for the first time I might add. Only one shooter did better than that with a 97, so out of 12 squads James was in top form. So James was Cambs Champion with 96. Anita North was County Ladies’ Champ with 85 and Nick Evans took the Vets’ with an 81. My thanks to Nicky and everybody at Nuthampstead once again.
