Cambridgeshire DTL Championship 2012 Sunday 12th August

The Cambridgeshire travellers had the familiar journey to Northampton Shooting Ground this time for the Cambs DTL Championship. Although the change was at very short notice, we still managed a turnout of 23. Thanks must be given to Martine and her staff for fitting us in with only 2 weeks’ notice and that I did on Sunday. That took the total entries on Sunday up to 18 squads as that was the day every man and his dog came to Northampton.
So 6 layouts were used; we had layouts 3/4/5/6, 3 and 4 facing south and
5 and 6 facing North all went well and the Sun was kind to us with a fair amount of cloud.
Our Junior, Josh Pearson carried on as he did last week in the ABT Intercounties with a super display. Last week he was part of the Cambs winning team, along with Max Haynes, they won the Juniors. Today showed he can also shoot DTL as well as ABT and put in a 98/ 284. Colin Fordham and Malcolm Collins gave skeet a rest for the day; Colin just pipping Malcolm by 2 points and also winning C class and a trophy.Chris Morris and Phil Barnard did what they do best, but couldn't catch Josh with his 284 just 282 and 281.
So we have a new DTL Champion.

On the day I met some old friends one of which was Mike King, who came to shoot his last shoot as he was about to retire from the game and he shot 100/293 as a goodbye.
