Cambridgeshire DTL Championship 2011

Delighted to see the return of the Cambridgeshire DTL competition return to a Cambridgeshire shooting ground. It’s been about twelve years since the last one was held on Cambridgeshire soil.
The competition was held over two days with Saturday being perfect DTL weather, but the Sunday not quite so warm and sunny but nevertheless a good DTL day.
It was good to see fresh faces shooting the Championship like Kevin Flitton. Kevin is normally found shooting ZZ to a high standard; in fact he has been our ZZ 
Champion for a few years. He was hitting the DTL targets as hard as anybody, but unfortunately with the 2nd barrel.
The shoot was run over 2 days I think this proved to be the best thing with an entry of 40. Last year's tally was 27 shooters so the Cambs coffers improved a good bit.
At the end of the day the Cambs Champion was Chris Morris shooting a very good 99/296.
The Ladies went to Hazel Whiten with a 90/261 just 1 point ahead of Donna Web.
The Vets went to Percy Rollings
Steve Whitwell won AA Class 96/285
Colts went to Taylor Hedgcock with 97/276
Juniors was won by Phil Gray with 96/282 and he didn't even bother to put a cartridge in for one shot.
A Class was Percy Rollings 98/291. He also shot the last 50/150, as did Phil Barnard. Unfortunately Phil missed the first target out in a shoot-off with Percy.
B class went with John Russo 97/283
C Class with Jamie Harding 99/291
All in all a super weekend
Many thanks to Brian for withdrawing gracefully from the competition and titles when he discovered he had inadvertently used illegal (ported, detachable) chokes to shoot his score. The referees failed to notice the infraction and the Jury and Cambridgeshire Committee had therefore decided to honour his result, but as the true sportsman he is, Brian declined to accept the Vets' and AA titles and asked that they be passed to the next highest scorers.
